In establishing a new brand identity for The County, it was imperative that we fully explore the brand attributes, brand character and brand tone of The County. This was completed by formalizing the visual style in the form of mood boards (shown below) as well as completing a brand attributes word mapping exercise to align the mood board visuals to the descriptive personality of The County. The rustic contemporary brand character defines The County’s brand today.
Prince Edward County Branding
In late 2013, 1dea Inc. was successfully awarded a contract to rebrand the municipality and region of Prince Edward County, amongst many competing local and urban branding creative agencies competing for the contract. This highly engaged branding process involved working with three organizational levels including a branding sub-committee, commission and municipal council. A rebrand was significant to The County and the new identity was intended to be a significant step forward in aligning the municipality, businesses, tourism and the community as a whole towards an aligned strategic direction for the future.
In the months that followed, 1dea worked closely with the branding sub-committee and municipal government contacts to establish a brand position, a brand personality and to help support the brand strategy work already undertaken by the branding sub-committee.
In addition to establishment of the new logo and identity, brand standards and rollout materials, 1dea Inc. engaged The County in several brand positioning and brand tone exercises to help better identify and summarize brand personality of The County. In addition to presentation of mood boards, 1dea Inc. drafted a formal brand tone of voice document to help identify the personality, the brand character and brand communication tone of The County. In the significant supporting market research we undertook, we also came to the conclusion that Prince Edward County should continue to be trademarked as “The County” under the understanding that “Prince Edward County” be introduced first when communicating to external audiences outside of the community who may be unfamiliar with Prince Edward County. Our scope of work for this rebranding project included:
- Logo Design
- Market Research
- Mood Board Development
- Visual Identity & Standards Guidelines
- Brand Tone of Voice
- Area Highway 401 Signage
- Official Tourism Guides (2014 & 2015)
- Tradeshow Displays and Materials
- Stationery Design
- Newsletter Design
- Advertising Layouts
- Social Media Images
- Kit Folder Design
