Spirits Canada

Spirits Canada – Marketing, Web Design & Digital Strategy

A national association needs more than a website. Through an ongoing WordPress and marketing retainer and campaign rollout, we help Spirits Canada keep member communications, advocacy, and digital tools current across Canada.

The Why Behind the Work

Spirits Canada’s work spans advocacy, member support, public education, and industry leadership, and their digital presence needs to keep pace. As new initiatives roll out across Canada, the website and communications must stay consistent, accessible, and easy to update, without losing clarity or credibility.

This partnership was built to support a national association with ongoing needs, while also making room for deeper marketing guidance as priorities expand.

How We Helped

  • Led a major WordPress website redesign, including UX/UI improvements across the full site.
  • Planned and built a comprehensive board portal to support governance, documents, and member-only access.
  • Developed site structure, page layouts, and content flow to improve clarity and reduce friction.
  • Supported copywriting and content strategy with SEO + GEO considerations to match how people search.
  • Designed and produced branded templates and communication tools for internal and public-facing use.
  • Delivered ongoing campaign and program assets across web, email, and social media.
  • Provided accessibility-minded design support aligned with AODA/WCAG best practices.
  • Continued site improvements and marketing support through an ongoing retainer.

Our Continued Partnership

  • Ongoing WordPress website support updates, backups, and performance monitoring.
  • Continuous site improvements to support new initiatives, member needs, and evolving priorities.
  • Management and updates for key association tools and content areas as programs expand.
  • Marketing advisory and planning support for 2026 initiatives beyond production work.
  • Design support for national campaigns, Ontario-based initiatives, and event communications.

Planning for Canada – Website Design & Development

Planning for Canada helps eligible newcomers prepare for life in Canada before they arrive through free, IRCC-funded pre-arrival support delivered by Colleges and Institutes Canada. 1dea redesigned and rebuilt the bilingual website to create a clearer, more accessible, and action-oriented experience.

The Why Behind the Work

Planning for Canada needed a website that could guide eligible newcomers with clarity, care, and confidence before they arrive in Canada. Core goals of the website were to help visitors understand the program, check eligibility, register for services, and access trusted resources. The redesigned experience shifts the site from a gatekeeping approach to a more welcoming journey, using simplified navigation, guided eligibility pathways, and plain-language content to help users understand the program, access trusted resources, and take the right next step.

How We Helped

1dea redesigned and developed a bilingual WordPress website with a stronger user journey, clearer content structure, and mobile-first layouts. The project included UX strategy, information architecture, conversion-focused content, custom post type structures for resources and success stories, accessibility considerations, SEO/GEO planning, and a supporting brand standards document. Visually, the design builds on Planning for Canada’s existing identity with clean layouts, accessible colour use, purposeful iconography, full-colour storytelling photography, and soft mint treatments that create a calm, trustworthy, and welcoming digital experience.

OHRDP – Custom Illustrated Training Guide

The Ontario Harm Reduction Distribution Program (OHRDP) partnered with 1dea to create a training guide for clinics across Ontario. The goal was to make harm reduction education clear, approachable, and usable in real-world front-line environments through custom illustration, strong hierarchy, and publication design.

The Why Behind the Work

Harm reduction is complex, sensitive, and often misunderstood. OHRDP needed a guide that could support staff training without feeling clinical, cold, or overly academic.

The content had to be easy to navigate under pressure, while still holding nuance and credibility. That meant designing a publication that was structured like a practical tool, and illustrated in a way that felt human, direct, and grounded in lived reality.

This work was recognized with an RGD Award for Social Good, celebrating the role design can play in safer, more informed communities.

How We Helped

  • We transformed complex medical guidelines into a set of accessible, bold, and professional training assets
  • Created a unique visual language to represent sensitive topics accurately without being alienating.
  • Developed a custom page layout that prioritizes clarity and rapid information retrieval for busy front-line workers.
  • Managed the print production process to ensure the final manuals were durable and professional.
  • Repurposed the guide’s established look to create complementary posters, further disseminating critical safety messages throughout the community.
  • Designed a full publication system with clear hierarchy, section structure, and consistent layout rules.
