theROC

theROC – Brand Identity, Website Redesign & Community Outreach

theROC is a Prince Edward County youth-focused nonprofit supporting connection, belonging, and life skills. We partnered to deliver a full brand transformation, supported by a new WordPress website and a rollout of campaign-ready materials across print and digital.

The Why Behind the Work

theROC needed more than a logo refresh. They needed a brand that could better reflect who they are today, resonate with youth and families, and help the organization show up with confidence across every touchpoint.

Their previous identity didn’t match the energy of the programs, the warmth of the people behind them, or the scale of what they’ve built in Prince Edward County. This project became about clarity, consistency, and creating a visual system that could grow with them.

With a need to achieve self-sustainability beyond government grants and clarify their community impact, key goals included:

  • Securing diverse funding and achieving self-sustainability through increased donor recognition.

  • Clarifying the organization’s identity to ensure their impact on the community is widely understood.

  • Creating a secure and inclusive environment that fosters growth and empowerment for local youth.

  • Building a bold visual foundation that bridges the gap between professional supporters and non-conformist youth.

How We Helped

  • Led brand strategy and identity development to better reflect theROC’s mission, tone, and community presence.
  • Designed a complete visual identity system including logo, typography, colour palette, icon style, and brand standards.
  • Built a WordPress website with UX/UI planning to support programs, donations, and community engagement.
  • Developed page layouts and content structure that support SEO and local discoverability in Prince Edward County.
  • Created campaign-ready outreach materials including posters, signage, and branded templates for ongoing use.
  • Provided design support for in-space branding to strengthen recognition and consistency across physical environments.

Our Continued Partnership

  • Ongoing WordPress support to keep the website secure, updated, and performing well.
  • Continued design support for campaign materials, posters, and community outreach.
  • Updates to website content and layouts as programs evolve and new needs emerge.
  • Brand stewardship to ensure new materials stay consistent and recognizable.
  • Strategic support as theROC grows its fundraising and community visibility.

Kingston Olive Oil Co.

Rarely is there a place that has a dynamic visitor experience plus offers an elevated product that consumers swear by. Kingston Olive Oil Co. is a set of trendy branded shops that needed a fresh and refined visual identity, creative packaging and an online and social presence.

A Blank Canvas

1dea was given complete creative freedom to build this brand from the ground up.

This ever expanding brand started with the initial primary brand used in store and on packaging. Then expanded into branding for its product line of specialty gift packages called The Olivent.

Award Winning Branding

1dea was recognized for our design achievement by LogoLounge as the Kingston Olive Oil Co. logo was selected out of 35,000 entries internationally as one of the best brand developments of the year in 2015 and then again in 2017 for the Olivent logo design.

Graphic Design You Can Hold

The Kingston Olive Oil Co. Specialty packaging will be forever considered some of 1dea’s favourites projects. These boxes are show stoppers with themed visuals, bright colours and impactful metallics. The conceptual designs, illustrations and full layouts were completed by the 1dea creative team. The collection includes The Olivent Advent Calendar, The Olive My Love Gift Box, and The Select Program.

Deliverables

Overview

Our goal was to unify five community library branches under a single, cohesive website that reflects the new County Library brand. With an emphasis on accessibility and user experience, the site showcases the diverse and extensive collections available to patrons, while creating an inviting space for the public to explore the library’s resources.

Goals/Objectives

We aimed to deliver a clean, dynamic, and easy-to-navigate website that would enhance public engagement with the L&A Libraries. Our objective was to make the library’s vast offerings more accessible, highlighting its role as a community hub for events, information, and resources.

Solutions/Results

The final website brought the County Library brand to life with a streamlined interface that is both visually appealing and functional. Patrons now enjoy a seamless browsing experience, easily discovering collections, programs, and events, fostering greater connection between the library and the community.

Tailoring a Unified Experience Across Diverse Branches

One of the key challenges we faced was unifying the unique identities of five distinct library branches under one cohesive platform. By developing a flexible design framework, we were able to highlight the individuality of each branch while maintaining consistency in branding. A focus on user experience was essential, ensuring that the site was not only intuitive and visually appealing but also accessible to users of all skill levels. With a fully responsive design and compliance with WCAG accessibility guidelines, the website offers seamless navigation across devices.

Collaboration, Scalability, and Long-Term Growth

Close collaboration with the library team allowed us to tailor the website to meet their specific needs while incorporating feedback from the community. This partnership ensured the final product truly resonated with both staff and patrons. Built with future scalability in mind, the site is designed to adapt as the library system grows, making it a long-term solution that can easily accommodate additional branches, programs, or features down the line.
