Evidence for Democracy (E4D), a non-partisan nonprofit based in Ottawa, Ontario, is Canada’s leading voice for evidence-informed decision-making. As the organization approached its 10-year anniversary, it partnered with 1dea to redesign its website to better reflect its impact, modernize the user experience, and strengthen its reach to a broader, more diverse audience.
The Why Behind the Work
E4D’s original website was outdated, unintuitive to navigate, and failed to communicate the energy and authority of the organization. Their goals included:
- Revamping their brand presence to celebrate a decade of impact
- Creating a modern, mobile-friendly website that attracts and engages a wider, younger audience
- Improving UX to support access to campaigns, publications, blogs, and training resources
- Integrating accessibility (WCAG 2.0 AA), CRM capabilities, and SEO best practices
- Enhancing storytelling through features like an interactive timeline and a more effective donation experience
How We Helped
- Designed and developed a responsive WordPress website with Elementor for flexible content management
- Restructured over 250 content pieces (including blog posts, reports, and campaigns) to improve findability and navigation
- Integrated WCAG 2.0 AA accessibility features to meet compliance standards and enhance usability
- Developed a scalable architecture prepared for future bilingual expansion
- Through user journey mapping, we gained strategic insights which crafted the storytelling approach ensuring compelling copywriting to maximize engagement and conversion
