Planning for Canada helps eligible newcomers prepare for life in Canada before they arrive through free, IRCC-funded pre-arrival support delivered by Colleges and Institutes Canada. 1dea redesigned and rebuilt the bilingual website to create a clearer, more accessible, and action-oriented experience.

Planning for Canada needed a website that could guide eligible newcomers with clarity, care, and confidence before they arrive in Canada. Core goals of the website were to help visitors understand the program, check eligibility, register for services, and access trusted resources. The redesigned experience shifts the site from a gatekeeping approach to a more welcoming journey, using simplified navigation, guided eligibility pathways, and plain-language content to help users understand the program, access trusted resources, and take the right next step.
1dea redesigned and developed a bilingual WordPress website with a stronger user journey, clearer content structure, and mobile-first layouts. The project included UX strategy, information architecture, conversion-focused content, custom post type structures for resources and success stories, accessibility considerations, SEO/GEO planning, and a supporting brand standards document. Visually, the design builds on Planning for Canada’s existing identity with clean layouts, accessible colour use, purposeful iconography, full-colour storytelling photography, and soft mint treatments that create a calm, trustworthy, and welcoming digital experience.
